PT. PCU Indonesia collaborated with the Akbara Polytechnic - Surakarta with the theme "Sustainability of Mt.Merapi Eruption Preparedness" in 100 Year Celebration of Peterson Control Union. Background this program based on refugees's data history of Mt. Merapi eruption in 2010. Achievements of this program is the fulfilment of the needs of disaster refugee. This condition will be achieved when there is a match between the distribution system with regional characteristics, disaster characteristics, types of disasters, the number of refugee and losses
A donation of EUR 18,800 has been distributed to an affected village (Ds. Ngargomulyo) and 5 Final Evacuation Sites (Ds.Tamanagung, Ds.Deyangan, Ds. Ngrajek, Ds. Banyurojo, Ds. Mertoyudan) in Magelang Regency such as agricultural equipment (polybags, seedlings, drums for composting), water tank, medical aids (wheelchairs, elderly walking aids, patient potty), handy talkies, cloth masks, spotlights, freezers, sleeping bags, metal shelves rack for logistic arrangement, folding stretcher, generator and VIAR.
The current status of Mt. Merapi is "Siaga" III on February 20, 2021. During this activity, there were no refugees in the Final Evacuation Sites. Villagers were back to their village for continue their activity. In accordance with the theme of this activity, we hope can support the evacuation process, during natural disaster and after natural disaster. Economic recovery must be considered after a disaster occurs.
Ngargomulyo Village has approximately 844 family that consist of 2,464 population (Kecamatan Dukun dalam Angka, 2020). Ngargomulyo Village is located 1.5-7.9 km from the peak of Merapi. All of people in Ngargomulyo village is potential refugees that have to be evacuate if eruption happen. We visited Ngargomulyo village to join the process of making compost, rice harvest, and sowing. We also informed brief of Organic Certification to villager. Ngargomulyo has potential in agriculture sector as well.
